Pioneers in Emerging Technology: Dr. Charles Day Meets VR Visionary Dr. Carolina Cruz-Neira at Rayburn House Office Building
On July 10, 2025, Dr. Charles Day engaged in an insightful conversation with Dr. Carolina Cruz-Neira, a global leader in virtual reality (VR) and immersive technologies, at the U.S. House Rayburn Building in Washington, D.C.
Dr. Cruz-Neira is internationally recognized as a pioneer in virtual reality development. She is the original architect of the CAVE (Cave Automatic Virtual Environment) — one of the first immersive VR systems enabling multi-user interaction in a shared virtual space. Her work on the CAVE helped lay the foundation for collaborative 3D environments still in use across academia, research, and enterprise today.
She is also the co-founder of the Virtual Reality Applications Center (VRAC) at Iowa State University, an institution that played a key role in expanding access to collaborative virtual environments across geographically distributed labs and research facilities.
Currently, Dr. Cruz-Neira holds the position of Agere Chair Professor in the Computer Science Department at the University of Central Florida (UCF). There, she co-founded both the Visual and Augmented Reality Laboratory (VARLab) and the UCF Digital Twin Strategic Initiative. Her focus includes the integration of digital twin technology, immersive simulation, and human-computer interaction for large-scale, real-world applications.
Dr. Charles Day, CEO and founder of CFDay, is currently advancing the development of a Quantum Simulation Platform, which is designed to support complex modeling for industries such as defense, logistics, and healthcare. His work emphasizes the intersection of quantum computing, simulation science, and national innovation priorities.
Although no formal collaboration was discussed, the meeting was described as a forward-looking exchange between two leaders in innovation. Both Dr. Day and Dr. Cruz-Neira are deeply engaged in shaping the next generation of technology, and their dialogue highlighted how fast the digital and immersive technology landscape is evolving.
The conversation underscored how strategic dialogue between academic and applied research leaders can catalyze innovation and inform the future of emerging technology, virtual reality, and simulation platforms.
At CFDay, we remain committed to building bridges between research and real-world applications — and to engaging with influential voices like Dr. Carolina Cruz-Neira as we navigate this rapidly shifting technological era.
June 2025 makes CFDay - 30 Years Strong
For three decades, CFDay has stood as a testament to the power of vision, perseverance, and servant leadership. Under the steadfast guidance of Dr. Charles Day and Dr. Theresa Day, our company has grown from the ground up as a proud disabled veteran-owned small business — weathering economic shifts, industry changes, and a global pandemic.
Their unwavering commitment to integrity, excellence, and people-first values has kept CFDay strong and resilient. From our earliest days to today, Dr. Charles and Dr. Theresa have led by example — ensuring our team, partners, and clients always know they are valued and supported.
According to the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics (BLS), about 20% of small businesses fail within their first year, about 50% close within five years, and only about one-third survive ten years or more — with far fewer lasting three decades (BLS, Business Employment Dynamics, 2023). For veteran-owned businesses, the challenge is even greater: there are about 1.9 million veteran-owned businesses in the U.S., representing about 6% of all businesses (U.S. Small Business Administration, 2023 Small Business FAQ).
CFDay’s ability to not only survive but thrive for 30 years as a disabled veteran-owned small business is an achievement we honor with deep pride.
As we celebrate this milestone, we extend our heartfelt gratitude to our dedicated employees, trusted partners, and loyal clients who have made this possible. Your trust and commitment inspire us every day — and we look forward to serving you for the next 30 years and beyond.
We are thrilled to celebrate Christina Day for officially earning her Project Management Professional (PMP) certification — a major accomplishment that reflects her dedication, discipline, and unwavering commitment to excellence.
